Daytona 2014

Daytona 2014 did not finish the way J-bird or the crew wanted, but much was learned and appreciated at this race track.
The weekend began with qualifying for Friday and Saturday's race. Qualifying took place on Thursday.
JD qualified 23rd.
That meant that he started the race in middle of the pack.
On Friday, race one, JD was run off the track in the first lap of the race and knocked into last place (40th!).
He got right back onto the track and worked his way up to 16th place in just ten laps.
I was SO PROUD!!
He was so pumped after that race and so was his pit crew (all 2 of us). We just knew that Saturday was going to be great and he was determined to place in the top ten...but it just wasn't meant to be.

Saturday morning we felt confident about JD's riding and the bike.
I was also finally comfortable in my pit crew job and had my responsibilities in tact.
Racing is just like that…teams get everything in order, all goes well and then..smack!
Our smack came during the warm up lap as JD was following the pace car around the Daytona track for his last race.
Due to break problems, he went off the track in the warm up lap and that was the end of Daytona for us all.
As we all say, "That's racing". What can happen, does happen in racing.
But hey…we looked good in our new custom race gear!!
