Feelin' The Love At Barber Motor Speedway

A glimpse into the ice chest reveals a few visitors to the Fluid Racing pit this weekend
                                                                                        (notice sippy cups)
The Laird crew enjoyed time with JD during the Fan Walk on Saturday
I do believe this is the moment Hayden has been waiting for all of his life..
riding on a motorcycle with JD
                                                                               Team Fluid Racing
Nonnie and Grandy joined the Fan Walk fun
a VERY happy Hayden with one of his heroes
Owen had a turn on the bike
                                                                               Cooper had a turn too
                                                                                   Ashlyn did too
                                                                           And, well so did Kristy!
Nonnie getting in the groove snapping pictures with her new iPhone
JD had so many friends and family come to see him including his buddy Clint from NOLA
our first attempt at an umbrella "girl"
but friends of JD's said that just wouldn't do..so they sent Selena over!
                                                                             JD and Selena

The race weekend at Barber did not start off as JD had hoped for.
It is his favorite track.
He had a good bike.
But on Friday he had a very disappointing practice/ qualifying session.
He was very down.
But while he was reliving every turn and gear shift in his mind and right when he was at his lowest point of the day...the pit trailer door opened and a little voice yelled with great excitement,
"JD! WE SAW YOU GO FAAAAST!"
It was Hayden and the rest of the Laird gang who had come for the race weekend and watched JD's first practice session.
And just like that, JD was laughing and being hugged by eight little arms.
From that moment and for the rest of the race weekend, JD was surrounded by the love of family and many friends.
I still can't believe that our Lairds made the drive, suffered the scalding heat, and were at the track from beginning to end of each day. Kristy and Kevin deserve a trophy in my book!
Friends of JD's just kept appearing.
One right after the other, they paid a hefty entry fee to see and support JD.
He didn't leave with a podium finish or a trophy.
But I don't know of any other rider, who was surrounded by more love than JD was over the weekend.

He was HIT by other racers three times during his race on Saturday.
Even so, he never lost the bike and finished the race.
The corner workers are people who stand in the corners of the race track to notify the riders of things like a rider off the track or a race restart, etc.
They too love JD.
They saw every hit he took on the race track in Saturday's race.
They wanted to give JD a little boost for Sundays race...so they sent Selena the Umbrella Girl over!
All the big teams have their own umbrella girls.
On Sunday, JD did too.
Selena even came over and stayed at his table throughout the Fan Walk.
So all in all, the weekend at Barber Motor Speedway ended with so much more for JD than any trophy.
He left there knowing, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he is blessed in so many ways.
